Katarína Gramatová
Katarína Gramatová, a Slovak film creative first stepped into the film industry as an editor. Later on, Katarína dvelved into her authorial work during her film editing studies which culminated in her directional debut of the critically acclaimed independent short film Cherries. This experience firmly established her directional and editing powers when she received a special jury prize at the Zlin Film Festival. Drawing upon her expertise in editing, directing, and dramaturgy, Katarina enhances the project’s creative process by leveraging her professional talents while working closely with the directors from the very beginning of the project. Her most recent editing works include well-known brands and artists like Stromae, Zalando, Sprite and Oppo.
One of her other projects Why Do We Shake In The Cold? received the Vimeo Staff Pick award while being nominated at the 2021 UK Music Video Awards. Moreover, the music video Santé for Stromae was a finalist in the editing category at the 2022 Ciclope Festival. Katarina argues that the editing process doesn’t start in post-production. On the contrary, it is important to work with the rhythm as well as the film language at the very beginning process of screenwriting, which the editing itself will only compliment.“ Thus, consulting scripts with directors is a practice which Katarina finds the most valuable. Currently, she is based in Prague, developing her own movie while finishing her graduate education at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
